Emirates SkyCargo has announced the addition of a third weekly freighter service to Shanghai in China. The new service is designed for the company to meet the ever-increasing global demand for products made in the Far East country.

Starting from 8th September and continuing every Monday, the airline’s Boeing 747-400F will leave Dubai at 0300 to reach Shanghai by 1120, returning to Dubai on Wednesday at 0610. The new service is in addition to SkyCargo’s twice weekly freighter services that go out on Sundays and Thursdays.

“We are delighted to announce our third frequency to Shanghai,” said Hiran Perera, manager cargo planning and capacity development. “The additional capacity we are now deploying will help to satisfy the needs of our customers in Shanghai and around the world.”

An IMF official recently predicted that China's economy could achieve and maintain an 8-10% growth rate for many years, which bodes well for the country’s manufacturing industry, and IT companies.

Additional freighter services mean that, besides serving the increasing outflow of those goods, SkyCargo can now source and ferry much needed supplementary cargo to Shanghai such as machinery, equipment, spares, software and auto components from around the world to ensure smooth and uninterrupted production.

The flexibility offered by freighters ensures that finished products are quickly and efficiently transported across Emirates' network, which includes China's main trading partners.

SkyCargo's expansion plans in order to facilitate a total logistics solution, together with efficient supply-chain management are gaining pace. In September alone, its freighters will have started services to Frankfurt and New York via Gothenburg.
