A new web site has been posted to help assist in the search for the missing Egyptian journalist, Reda Helal.

The site allows anyone who has known or dealt with Helal, the deputy editor of Al Ahram newspaper, to share any information about him online and anonymously.

Helal disappeared on August 11, and, according to a release issued by his supporters, a huge detective effort, supervised directly by the Egyptian minister of interior affairs, has not yielded any clues as to his whereabouts.

His friends and supporters believe, however, that his disappearance is linked to his “blunt opinions in favour of the USA during its war against Iraq.”

Helal, who is in his late forties, lived in the USA for several years as a foreign correspondent.
