HP is launching its first Centrino-based notebook in the Middle East, the HP Compaq Business Notebook nx7000 PC, which boasts a high-resolution 15.4-inch wide aspect ratio display screen. HP believes this will make it a compelling buy for small to medium business users.

The HP Compaq nx7000, which will be showcased at this year’s GITEX, is seen by HP as ideal for working on multiple applications side by side, viewing spreadsheets, or editing with digital images and video for desktop publishing or other graphics-intensive work. The notebook is 3.45-cm thin and weighs in at 2.95kg, making it easy for mobile professionals to take while on the go. Featuring the Pentium-M processor designed specifically for mobile computing, the nx7000 notebook can achieve up to 5½ hours of battery life, while still providing performance to meet the needs of demanding applications.

“HP continues to develop and extend its products for the user. With this latest notebook, we knew there needed to be more versatility – wherever the user chooses to log on. Therefore, the HP Compaq nx7000 series has an unprecedented 15.4” wide-screen and wide-viewing display for DVD viewing and digital manipulation, as well as Bluetooth technology and Centrino MT,” said Christoph Schell, general manager of the Personal Systems Group, HP Middle East. “Intel Centrino Mobile Technology is a breakthrough for the industry and we at HP believe that our combined efforts are set to receive positive feedback in the Middle East from mobile professionals who value efficiency, time management and smart business practices.”

For multimedia users, the HP Compaq nx7000 is available with ATI’s Mobility Radeon 9200 graphics with up to 64-MB video memory, JBL Pro speakers and three USB 2.0 ports. It also features an integrated Secure Digital (SD)/MultiMedia memory card (MMC) slot that allows for quick transfer of digital photos, music or other files to and from the PC and digital cameras, printers, handhelds and other devices. Mobile professionals will also have a choice of optical drives, including 24 x CD-RW/DVD or DVD +RW.
