Aptec signed as distributor for IBM server lines

Aptec has been selected to distribute IBM's xSeries servers, aimed at SMBs, in the Middle East and Pakistan

Aptec has been appointed as a distributor for IBM’s range of Intel-based servers. The new agreement covers the Middle East and Pakistan, and includes low-to-mid range IBM servers and its personal computer ranges.

One of the key product focuses will be xSeries line of servers, that are aimed at small-to-medium sized businesses. The xSeries provides a cost effective solution for SMBs looking for powerful scalable servers, according to Hashem Mansy, IBM products manager for Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan.

“The xSeries servers are an open, secure and reliable foundation for e-Business solutions,” Mansy said. “Based on Enterprise X-Architecture with intelligent systems management capabilities, these powerful Intel-processor based servers are backed by IBM’s world-class service and support teams. These servers will offer a tremendous opportunity to small and medium size businesses in the region to access cutting edge-technology that will improve their work flow processes and increase their business potential in an increasingly competitive environment.”

The xSeries includes several different models of server. The x200Series is a range of dual and single processor servers, available as tower or rack design, including predictive failure analysis and integrated systems management. The x300Series is a rack optimised solution aimed at mid level deployments, and the range also includes a blade server solution, that can combine up to fourteen dual processor Xeon boards into a single unit.
