Gulf Food Industries - California Garden has upgrade its Oracle enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications to 11i version 5.8. The canned beans producer, which has been using Oracle applications since 1999, deployed Oracle’s financial, inventory and purchasing modules to streamline its operation.

Internal staff carried out the upgrade project. “We are proud of our internal IT team for completing this project without the need for external consultants,” says Adel Fahmy, GFI’s deputy general manager.

“Gulf Food Industries finds [Oracle’s] E-Business Suite to be a comprehensive and function-rich suite of business applications that helps us manage our business effectively in the highly competitive canned food industry,” he adds.

Gulf Food Industries intends to implement Oracle Manufacturing later this year. “It is great to see how Gulf Food Industries is taking full advantage of the Oracle E-Business Suite and how it is using its internal resources to move forward and implement more business modules,” comments Husam Dajani, Oracle’s vice president for the Middle East Region.

“Food processing and canning is an industry that operates under tough competitive pressures and strict heath regulations but the company has been able to grow its market share and enhance its California Garden brand equity,” he adds.
