A new Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) that brings movie previews directly to your mobile has been launched by Wataniya Telecom, a leading GSM mobile operator in Kuwait.

Once a week, subscribers to the new ‘Action’ movie news service will receive feature previews on the latest blockbuster movies before they arrive in the Kuwaiti cinemas. MMS is growing in popularity throughout the Middle East with Etisalat recently launching the service in the UAE.

“Using the latest MMS-based technologies, the Action movie news service brings a whole new colourful experience to movie enthusiasts in the country. Action movie news delivers to our subscribers first-hand information on the latest movies that are coming to town,” said Fuad Al Ablani, assistant general manager, Wataniya Telecom.

He added: “Whether movie previews, screensavers, personal horoscopes, e-mail or greeting cards, Action services are about delivering services and content that people want and can use. No other mobile operator in the Middle East offers the diverse range of GPRS and MMS-based services that we are offering to our subscribers today.”

To activate their subscription, Action subscribers can send a request by SMS or log onto the ‘Funtec’ website http://www.wataniya.com/funtec. Mobile communications penetration in Kuwait is growing with over 60% of the population owning handsets, with Wataniya Telecom claiming over 750,000 subscribers.
