Air Niugini, Papua New Guinea’s national carrier, is increasing efficiency and reducing operating costs with the implementation of Fastrac — a revenue account package from Mercator, the IT services subsidiary of Emirates Group.

Mercator, which has had considerable success selling its Rapid revenue accounting system to larger carriers, has designed Fastrac to meet the needs of small to medium sized airlines.

The package is available as either a standalone passenger or cargo applications or an integrated solution.

Air Niugini, which operates a fleet of 10 aircraft, will use Fastrac to support its expansion plans, cut account costs, raise productivity and boost commercial confidence.

“We need a revenue accounting solution will help us truly understand our finances, giving us the insights to make sound strategic decisions, and compete successfully,” says Steve Wilks, chief financial officer, (CFO), Air Niugini.

“Fastrac has proved to be that system. Its powerful functionality and short rollout time, combined with Mercator's years of airline experience, made our choice an easy one,” he adds.

Fastrac converts raw data on air tickets and waybills into the essential financial and strategic analysis that airlines increasingly depend on. It offers a complete range of revenue accounting functionality, including sales, uplifts, proration and interline billing.

“Fastrac is generating huge interest. We've tailored it to the needs of small and medium sized carriers so they can have the very best in revenue accounting, backed up by Dubai-based professionals who are among the most experienced in the business,” explains A. T. Srinivasan, VP sales and marketing for Mercator.
