Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) plans to improve customer services and drive growth, with an upgrade to its business intelligence strategy.

The bank has opted to implement Business Objects enterprise software in an effort to improve operations and create a business differentiator.

“Business intelligence is a strategic initiative at CBD, helping to drive the growth of the bank,” says Mahmoud Hassan Hadi, assistant general manager, systems & operations, CBD.

“Information is the lifeblood of our organisation, and Business Objects BI solutions enable us to analyse and act upon that information in order to optimise operational efficiency and drive customer satisfaction,” he adds.

CBD selected the Business Objects solution due to its ability to use multiple sources of data and its user friendly interface, which helps the user community to easily understand business information.

“Our users will understand the data, and make better business decisions. In doing that, we can better serve our customers,” comments Amir Afzal, executive manager, IT at CBD.

With the previous solution, compiling reports and analysing business trends had been a complex and time consuming, says Mansur Ikhlas, manager systems development, IT at CBD.

“But, with products like Business Objects we are confident of improving productivity and enhancing service to our customers,” he adds.

The vendor’s local distributor, Business Strategy Group (BSG), will implement the solution.

“CBD’s commitment to Business Objects is further proof of the importance of business intelligence to large financial corporations today,” explains Raheel Khan, territory manager, BSG.

“[CBD is] using business intelligence to help them achieve operational excellence throughout their organisation, and maintain their leadership in a competitive industry. BI allows companies to access the pulse of their business at any given moment, an important capability in today’s fast changing economy,” adds Khan.
