The pharmaceutical firm Roche has launched a new Arabic web site, Roche-Arabia.com, aimed at increasing awareness of health issues in the Arab world and promoting its own products.

Roche-Arabia.com is one of the first medical web sites that offer’s Arabic content and the user friendly search engine allows you to find comprehensive information by either country, disease or by Roche product.

"The last 10 years have seen the rise of the internet into a major source of information, in particular on health and disease. With this web site, we aim at providing up-to-date information on Roche healthcare solutions to the large number of Arabic speaking people in the Middle East and Africa," said Ekkehard Betsch, general manager of Hoffmann-La Roche Middle East.

Answers to popular, and often sensitive, topics will be available and key questions such as weight management, living with a transplanted kidney and facts about viral hepatitis C are also on offer. Elsewhere in the site visitors can find health tips and read stories from patients.

“This website is addressed to patients, physicians, pharmacists, nurses and all others who would like to know about our products,” says Betsch, who added he wanted all sides of the medical community to get involved with the site.

To encourage greater two-way communication on the site, a number of quizzes will be available to encourage people to learn about health-related issues in an informative and fun way.
