Tech Access, Sun Microsystems’ channel development provider in the Middle East, is building on the success of its Sun iForce Solutions Center by opening offices in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Morocco.

The $1 million facility, based in Dubai, has proved to be a success in its first year of operation. Since its launch last July, the Sun Authorised iForce Ready Center has consistently leveraged up to $500,000 in Sun-based technology solutions every month and has generated an average of three proof-of-concept prototype solutions every month.

“Tech Access is justifiably proud of what has been achieved with the Solutions Center by the milestone point of its first anniversary,” said Shomail Ghalib, managing director, Tech Access. “The core concept underlining the Center – of enabling companies to test their blended hardware and software solutions in an off-site facility so they can be sure of a solid return on their investment – has provided a best practice model for the Middle East.”

Tech Access has announced a “blue-print” for growth, which includes office openings in the afore-mentioned countries, a new series of offerings for the mid-market sector and a “showcase” initiative that the company said would take the Center’s ‘test before you invest’ concept across the Middle East.

Habib Bank AG Zurich used the Center to evaluate a Sun-based end-to-end banking technology infrastructure, supporting a range of business functions, including treasury, risk management, customer relationship management, profitability management and reporting.

Reza S Habib, joint president, Habib Bank AG Zurich, said the solution saved the bank considerable resources by showing areas of improvement and possible hindrances before actually implementing the infrastructure.
