UAE University has signed up with Emerging Technologies to develop a bilingual voice portal. The voice portal will be available for students, faculty and parents from the start of the academic year.

“UAE University being a pioneer in adopting new technologies has opted for speech recognition solution to facilitate improved registration and grades tracking methodology for our 16,000 students, their parents and 2,500 faculty members,” says Dr. Mohammed Mansour, deputy vice chancellor for student affairs, UAE University.

“Our voice portal will be the first of its type and we hope that universities all over the world will follow sought to ease administration process and provide spontaneous information,” he adds.

In the initial phase of development, the voice portal will enable course registration and grade inquiries via phone. Eventually, the site will enable students to check course grades, listen to the course schedule and sign up for courses.

The portal will also allow parents to check student attendance.

“With Emerging Technologies Voice Enabled solutions, students, faculty members & parents can easily use their natural language & local dialects to make telephone calls & access a university's portal content, finalize registration procedures & retrieve grades,” comments Sassine Mazraani, managing director, Emerging Technologies.
