Jordan’s Yarmouk University has selected Foundry’s FastIron II Plus backbone switch for its lab network. The Layer 3 switch will provide the backbone for the university’s new laboratory architecture, to accommodate new and future network needs.

“Wining this prestigious education site is proving to be beneficial for Foundry in the education sector within the regional market. Foundry now has an education/university reference in nearly every country in the region,” said Farook Majeed, regional director, Foundry Networks Dubai.

“All the premier account names are introducing Foundry’s products and technology. We are well established and very well focused on the market with more than 100 reference sites in the region and our success story rapidly continues”, Majeed added.

The FastIron switch is based on Foundry’s IronCore ASIC architecture, which will increase the amount of bandwidth available to students. The network is designed to have the capacity to support next generation bandwidth intensive applications.
