Emirates Computers has outperformed other distributors of Nokia products across the Middle East, Pakistan and Iran, to clinch the ‘Distributor of the Year 2002’ award.

The award was judged based on the distributor’s appropriate forecasting and compliance to projections, quality of service, branding/marketing activities, retail presence and implementation of Nokia strategy.

“We would like to commend Emirates Computers for winning this award, which recognises the company’s efforts,” says Juho Halinen, managing director, Nokia Middle East.

Alongside its local award, Emirates Computers also ranked sixth, in the Nokia chairman’s list of top 20 performers at a global level.

“Emirates Computers was also acknowledged for reaching the top position in handset sales in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, which made it a strong contender for the ‘Distributor of the Year’ award. Its performance surpassed that of several top telecom distributors across the globe,” explains Halinen.

The distributor is developing a strategy to aggressively expand its sales operation into Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Yemen and Syria in the coming months.

“This is a major achievement for us at Emirates Computers… With this award, Nokia has acknowledged our consistent performance in the Middle East and our drive to expand operations,” says Hani Harik, president of Emirates Computers.

Not content with dominance in the handset market, Emirates Computers is working closely with Nokia to build an enterprise solutions business developing and deploying wireless communication devices, content services and machine-to-machine products.

Both companies are also working to build the market for mobile phone games.
