Regional distributor Genius, in conjunction with Taiwanese manufacturer KYE, outlined its wide-ranging plans at a live videoconference from Taiwan, staged at the Metropolitan Palace hotel in Dubai. Genius will move into the home theatre systems market and also launch a DVD player.

Milad Jabbour, managing director of Genius, said, “This was in line with trends seen in the market with consumer and SOHO market segments increasingly embracing our expanding range of wireless and optical products including keyboards, mice and gamepads.”

Genius also claimed that demand for scanners will be replaced with demand for digital cameras as prices of the latter continue to fall. Genius plans to unveil a 5 megapixel camera by the end of the year.

Other product highlights included the recently released Genius GHT-510, a 5.1 channel surround sound speaker system designed for home theatre use.

Genius is continuing to come up with new products in its core areas. The Genius Wireless WebScroll+ NBEye is a lightweight mini wireless optical mouse designed for use with notebooks and adds to Genius’s wide range of PC input devices.
