Jordan Telecom (JT) is expanding its base of suppliers and automating its procurement processes by signing up with Dubai-based online marketplace, Tejari. The incumbent Jordanian operator hopes that the deal will increase the overall efficiency of its business operations and create a more effective buying cycle.

“The partnership with Tejari is critical for the growth of our business in a number of key areas, as it will increase the scope of our buying activities while consolidating our procurement processes,” explains Pierre Mattei, chief executive officer of Jordan Telecom.

“We aim to enjoy a number of strategic advantages from this agreement, including a reduced inventory and wider access to a large number of suppliers in the local, regional and international markets,” he adds.

JT will be able solicit and submit tenders and accelerate its time-to-market for key projects by using Tejari. There are plans to be improve the level of efficiency by tightening integration between Tejari’s Oracle-based backend systems and JT’s own enterprise resources planning (ERP) application.

“We’ve tracked the progress made by companies that use electronic procurement processes – both in the telecommunications sector and in other comparable industries – and we’ve been greatly impressed by the potential advantages such innovations can deliver,” says Raslan Deiranieh, chief financial officer, Jordan Telecom.

Since opening the office in Jordan, the online marketplace has gained substantial market momentum. Tejari is currently running a pilot project for the government in association with the Ministry of Communication & Information Technology. The addition of JT, should aid Tejari in winning further business from the local market.

“We’re delighted to welcome a progressive, industry innovator like Jordan Telecom to our Tejari e-Marketplace,” says Mohammed Hindawi, managing director of Tejari Jordan.

“Our aim is to enable organisations throughout the region with access to the full benefits of e-Commerce, and the experiences of progressive companies like Jordan Telecom shows how easy and effective such online processes can be,” he adds.
