Zayed University is signing up to the Microsoft IT Academy Program, giving its students access to a range of Microsoft .NET technologies including Visual Basic.NET and ASP.NET. Microsoft’s South Gulf office will also provide training for the faculty at Zayed University to become Microsoft Certified Solutions Developers.

The University has signed a memorandum of understanding with Microsoft South Gulf which will see it receive software at discounted rates, as well as providing Microsoft technologies as part of its curricula, and working on other projects.

“We at Zayed University look forward to working with Microsoft in a spectrum of projects which will increase the expertise of our faculty as well as enable our students to gain valuable experience by working with Microsoft professionals,” said Dr Hanif Al Qassimi, vice president of Zayed University. “I cannot think of a better way to prepare our students to become intelligent knowledge workers when they graduate. Experience that they gather while working at Microsoft will definitely give them an edge in the future job market.”

“Microsoft has always been a key player in developing the educational sector in the UAE. We are constantly looking for more means to boost IT education here and working with visionary organisations such as Zayed University makes our job much easier,” said Abdullatif Almulla, general manager for Microsoft South Gulf.

Microsoft South Gulf also recently signed a three-year agreement with Ajman University to provide it with software for 1500 of its desktops, as well as providing training for staff members on its latest products.
