Belkin Corporation is looking to steal a lead on rivals by announcing that it is delivering 802.11g compliant wireless networking solutions. Following the ratification of the standard by the IEEE organisation last Thursday, the vendor has begun shipping its 54 Mbits/s wireless products.

According to Belkin, its 54g wireless range incorporates the necessary revisions to fulfil the IEEE’s specifications and will provider interoperability with other 802.11g and 802.11b products.
Furthermore, any 54g products that were purchased prior to the ratification can be freely upgraded at Belkin’s web site,

"We feel that the new 802.11g specification will help drive commonality and reduce confusion in the wireless market, both of which are important strategic goals of Belkin," says Eric Tong, director of marketing and product management at Belkin.
