Businesses in the UAE will be able to learn more about storage management solutions at a series of seminars being held by Sun Microsystems and MDS STech this month. The seminars will cover subjects such as storage virtualisation, storage strategies and cost reduction, and case studies of successful Sun storage deployments.

The event comprises two half-day seminars, to be held in Dubai on June 17th and Abu Dhabi on June 18th. Attendees will hear from storage experts from both Sun Microsystems and STech, the storage practice of MDS. Sun will also present its N1 virtualisation strategy, which creates a single unified computing environment.

“Middle East spending on storage infrastructure has now eclipsed investment in servers and other technology components, as businesses in the region have realised that it is their data which represents the greatest corporate value, in terms of both daily operations and customer relations,” commented Philip Roy, regional sales manager, Sun Microsystems Middle East & North Africa, who will welcome attendees to the UAE storage seminars.

Ali Awada, senior general manager, MDS/STech, said: “Companies in the Middle East are looking at storage as a way of gaining competitive advantage, as a well-planned data management strategy can enable companies to know their customers better, and use their information more advantageously to drive business growth.”
