BakBone Software has upgraded its flagship NetVault storage management software with the release of Version 7, which it claims offers enhanced scalability, automation and administrator productivity.

Additionally, the vendor says the product is suitable for heterogeneous storage area networks (SANs) or network attached storage (NAS) environments. Key features that have been upgraded with the release of Version 7 include, policy management and event notification, reporting, user level access.

NetVault 7 allows administrators to extend features and control to a wider range of end users, while also providing granular support enables IT staff to cater to the requirements of particular user groups.

Furthermore, the advanced reporting functionality of the software provides more detailed information about storage networks, system operations, job execution and media utilisation. Users are also able to customise the reporting tools to suit their specific requirements, while administrators can receive alerts about any critical events that occur within the storage environment.

BakBone also claims that its management software can reduce the total cost of ownership for SAN and NAS solutions by automating processes and configuration across these environments.

“NetVault 7 represents a significant milestone for our company in many ways. We believe it is the most advanced data protection offering available in the market today,” says Keith Rickard, president & CEO, BakBone.

“NetVault 7 combines rich features with unprecedented ease of use and speed to deploy. It represents the vehicle with which we will be driving increased market share and revenue growth,” he adds.

According to BakBone, its NetVault solution is developed on an advanced modular architecture, which offers flexibility and scalability for enterprises and their changing storage requirements.

Furthermore, the vendor touts an easy to use GUI interface as critical to ensuring control is maintained in both distributed and centralised environments.
