Dubaiquiz.com has today announced its plans to host the first quiz challenge for IT professionals in the UAE on June 5, at the Holiday Inn Bur Dubai.

The ‘Samsung c:rain challenge’ will be a quiz challenge for IT professionals from across the country and prizes worth AED 150,000 are on offer for the winning teams. Hosting the event, and making sure people know their byte from their bits, will be Siddhartha Basu, the host of the BBC’s Mastermind challenge.

The event is a first of its kind for the industry and is sponsored by Samsung Gulf Electronics. “Samsung is excited to be the sponsor, we are proud to be initiating a first-of-a-kind IT quiz challenge in UAE that will test the knowledge of our professionals and foster a spirit of healthy competition in the industry” said K.S. Vasudevan, senior manager digital information technology division, Samsung Gulf Electronics.

Watches, PDA’s and mobile phones are among the prizes that will be on offer at the quiz and prizes will also be given away to the audience at the challenge. The Samsung c:rain challenge will consist of two rounds with computer terminology, unsurprisingly, expected to make up a large part of the questions. There will be two participants in each team and the entry fee is US$100 per team. The last date for receiving entries is the 25th of May.

“Following close on the heels of the very successful e-quiz, which is now on its third edition, Samsung c:rain challenge for IT professionals is expected to attract keen interest not only from IT professionals but also from the general public whose lives have been touched by computers in one way or the other,” said Jamshed Mehdi, CEO of dubaiquiz.com.
