Emirates Internet & Multimedia (EIM) has kicked off a campaign to get the UAE’s small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) signed up for broadband services. The internet service provider (ISP) has designed five different ‘packages’ to target companies of different sizes and different budgets.

Each value package caters for a variety of access speeds, download limits, scalable e-mails and web hosting.

“We launched BusinessOne in October 2000 as a ‘one size fits all’ solution and we have been monitoring its success ever since,” comments Maroua Naim, general manager, EIM.

“The smallest business requires a high speed connection, e-mail addresses and a web site with which to operate efficiently, but cannot always afford the prices larger companies are able to pay. The five new packages provide solutions to different requirements and we believe the SME market can now advance to the next level,” she adds.

EIM has dropped the price for smaller businesses by introducing a download limit for each package. For example, the Dhs 350 single user package has a download limit of 350 MB per month, while a multi-user package provides a download capability of up to 8 GB.

The ISP has designed its sliding price scale based on extensive research on user behaviour. Should organisations exceed these limits an additional fee will be charged.

“This move was an essential next step in meeting the needs of a developing market,” adds Naim.

“The SME sector underpins much of the UAE economy and the Internet has become an integral part of its day-to-day business. By increasing the products we offer, we expect to see the number of businesses taking advantage of the Internet’s benefits grow extensively,” she adds.
