Taj Television has installed a new Quartz routing and master control solution to improve its sports channel, Ten Sports.

The new Quartz router will add a long needed upgrade to the system that will include a Q128 serial video router and a Q6400 port-to-port Q6400 with capacity for up to 64 devices. It also comes with a SC-1000 system controller with a variety of control panels.

For live playout Ten Sports must rely on two dual channel QMCs from the Quartz system, creating a dynamic transmission system. Each QMC comes with a built-in signal feed and power protection features. The new Quartz system has been installed as the main station router, operating in SDI with embedded audio for distribution.

“The QMC presents a perfect opportunity for us to begin with a highly capable entry-level unit that can be easily expanded to satisfy our future needs,” says Colin Sherriff, VP Engineering at Taj Television. “Optional additions for the QMC include up to three levels of keying, logo store, integrated Digital Video Effects (DVE) and analogue audio options. The QMC is also fully compatible with the third party automation system that we’ve chosen.”

Sherriff is confident Taj has made the right choice in hardware. “We made our system selection based on price, compactness, expandability and the company’s reliable track record,” he says. “The technical support we have received throughout the installation has been excellent.”
