ISS is stepping into the security appliance market with a suite of products known as Proventia. The network protection appliances, which form part of the company’s Dynamic Threat Protection platform, will offer unified, multi-function protection against all forms of attack.

ISS also claims user management will be minimal and centralised, while the products are reportedly capable of handling the most demanding network environments.

The first range of products to hit the market is the Proventia A Series, which includes four models — A201, A604, A1204 and A1204F — and is capable of providing protection up to 1,200 Mbits/s aggregate bandwidth on up to four network segments.
The range also includes options for 10/100/1000 Mbits/s over copper and 1 Gbit/s fibre network access.

“Proventia A Series appliances deliver ISS' advanced network protection in a way that significantly reduces the time and effort customers traditionally spend on the acquisition and deployment of protection hardware and software; freeing valuable IT resources for more critical projects," says Greg Adams, vice president, product management, ISS. "Customers can now protect their networks 'out of the box' in about 15 minutes," he adds.

ISS is also planning to extend the Proventia range over the coming year, with a products expected by the end of this year, which will unify multi-function protection. For example, solutions would integrate inline prevention, firewall, VPN, gateway antivirus and spam filtering in a single appliance with one centralised management platform.

“ISS’ Proventia appliances are intended to give customers a single point of protection to prevent all forms of attack, thereby eliminating the need for standalone firewalls, gateway anti-virus and other traditional point technologies that alone fail to provide complete protection against today’s complex threats,” says Tom Noonan, president & CEO, ISS.

“With Proventia, we are simplifying the role of security for our customers, enabling them to focus on their core business operations with the peace of mind that they are protected by ISS,” he adds.
