Vxceed Technologies has deployed its Route Accounting System at Gulf International, one of the Al Batha Group of Companies, based on Microsoft’s .NET architecture. Dubbed RouteTrac, it is one of the first implementations of a mobile solution on the .NET platform in the Middle East.

The project integrates Al Batha’s SAP R/3 system with a mobile computerized solution for those group companies involved in field sales or route accounting.

“We were looking for a robust IT backbone for our field sales and route accounting team and found that RouteTrac was the only solution that met our criteria and the consolidated requirements of our group companies,” explained Mr. Saji Oommen, group IT manager, Al Batha Trading & Industry Co.

The challenge facing Vxceed was to integrate the SAP system with the automated route accounting solution despite demanding requirements related to data integrity, error handling and functionality. “With 6 group companies sharing approximately 150 vans for distribution, we were delighted with a roll out of Phase One in 2 months,” said Oommen.

RouteTrac, one of Vxceed’s prime mobile applications, empowers the sales team with customer, product and pricing details. Documents such as invoices or delivery notes can be quickly produced and forward orders can be recorded by the field salesman at the point of sale.

“Earlier, Gulf International route accounting was performed manually, which was time-consuming and error-prone,” said James McCluskey, general manager Gulf International, Al Batha Group.

“But with the deployment of the solution based on Microsoft’s .NET technologies, we have experienced around a 30 per cent reduction in time taken for daily settlement per route and significant savings in the time per stop for transaction processing, among other benefits.”

Vxceed was nominated to the finals of Microsoft’s RAD awards for this solution. The RAD awards are open to all retailers, independent software vendors (ISVs), solution providers and systems integrators (SIs) in the retail industry in Europe, the Middle East or Africa (EMEA) that have built innovative and successful solutions using Microsoft technology.

Abdullatif Almulla, general manager, Microsoft South Gulf, comments: “Vxceed’s nomination to the international RAD awards for this solution highlighted the excellent work that they did customizing Microsoft technologies to address the business needs Al Batha faced."

"As one of three finalists for the prestigious Mobile Solutions award, the global community recognized the innovative work for which they are renowned," he adds.
