Italian wireless application service provider Acotel has struck a deal to supply a high-capacity SMS centre to Mobitel Sudan.

Under the deal, the company’s subsidiary, Jinny Software, will supply the technical platform to Mobitel to help meet the requirements of the operator’s expanding subscriber base.

The move will see subscribers in Sudan being able to access new SMS-based services and allow Mobitel to deliver over 10m messages per day.

Meanwhile, Acotel has said it has completed the integration of content provider Info2cell.com, which it bought out in February.

The move, designed to consolidate the firm’s operations in the Middle East, has seen two divisions focusing on products and services set up under an umbrella group, Acotel Middle East.

The founder of Info2Cell Bashar Dahabra, who has become General Manager of Acotel Middle East, said the Info2Cell brand would continue to be used for the services division.

Jinny Software, which was bought by Acotel two years ago, has formed its products unit. The overall group has around 50 employees, according to Dahabra.
