Arab Banking Corporation (ABC) has completed a pilot e-procurement project at its Bahrain head office. Based on a number of solutions from Aregon and implemented by a joint Aregon/PwC Consulting team, the trial has demonstrated how ABC can effectively streamline its procurement process and cut costs by buying online.

Around 100 ABC employees have used the system to buy office supplies, pre-printed materials and IT equipment. Furthermore, the purchasing of non-core material has been outsourced to the Buyers Club, Aregon's full-fledged e-procurement service, which aggregates the demand of multiple buyers to secure discounted pricing.

“The Aregon/PwC Consulting alliance has provided us with e-business services that are proving very effective in managing and streamlining our purchasing processes,” says Sael Alwaary, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Information Technology at ABC.

Due to the success of the project, ABC is now looking to roll the model out to its other units around the world as it looks to automate procurement and cut costs across the board.

“We intend to aggressively deploy and maintain this e-procurement solution across the global organisation,” confirms Alwaary.
The ABC account is the third e-procurement project that the Aregon/PwC Consulting alliance worked on since the beginning of 2002. Work has already been completed at Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) and Saudi Oger.
