Saudi Telecom’s (STC), internet service provider (ISP) business unit, SaudiNet, will be showcasing its upgraded customer portal at this year’s show. The portal, which was initially launched towards the end of last year, has been overhauled to introduce greater functionality and ease of use.

“The initial launch of the portal exceeded our expectations and increased customer loyalty,” says Abdullah Al Musa, general manager, SaudiNet.

“The portal has a lot features including self service functions to enable customers to-administer their accounts, send SMS messages, get live help via online chat with our customer care [agents], see some local web cams, calendars and is also highly customisable,” he adds.
According to Al Musa, the web site has been important in generating customer loyalty among SaudiNet’s subscribers. The customisation features enables subscribers to generate a personal look and feel for their home page.

Unfortunately, the upgraded site won’t be providing the all important payment services. STC completed the necessary integration work sometime ago, however, in the absence of an online local payment gateway, SaudiNet is powerless to process transactions online.

“The billing system is ready to take the transactions from the site, but we’re still waiting for a payment gateway in the Kingdom,” says Al Musa.
