Polycom is enhancing its multimedia conferencing products with the introduction of the iPower 9800 model. The product delivers both audio and video capabilities, which help to facilitate collaboration among users. According to the vendor, the solution is suitable for both enterprises as a comprehensive solution and for systems integrators and value added resellers (VARs) as a standalone codec.

The iPower 9800 solution also offers an embedded 12-port multipoint control unit (MCU), which enables bridging of up to 12 locations in a call over IP without the need for cascading links between multiple MCUs.

According to the vendor, the iPower 9800 is also the first product to incorporate a new video compression standard known as H.264, which provides sharper picture quality. Furthermore, the product offers 14 KHz audio fidelity, Pro-Motion video and Dual Stream People+Conent technology that enables high quality data sharing.

“Besides audio and video conferencing, the iPower offers a familiar user interface that can be accessed through point and click wireless keyboards and remote controls for making presentations and the accessing the web, even when the system is not on a video conferencing call,” says Polycom.

The iPower 9800 also features a Digital Conference Record that enables users to record and replay their conference calls using a web browser and streaming.
