HP is top dog in the regional PC market, with market share across the desktop, notebook and PC servers ranges of 19.4% for the fourth quarter of 2002, according to IDC.

HP is top dog in the regional PC market, with market share across the desktop, notebook and PC servers ranges of 19.4 % for the fourth quarter of 2002, according to IDC.

In specific sectors, HP’s market share in the desktop sector was 18% in Q402 while in notebooks it had 25.9%. "It is our customers in the Middle East who put us into the number one position," says Christoph Schell, General Manager of the Personal Systems Group of HP Middle East.

"It is testimony to our continued focus on meeting their needs that we continue to hold this position. We recently announced that HP would be establishing a local assembly plant in Saudi Arabia and we will be providing further details on this initiative soon. This underlines once again our determination to provide the best possible service to our customers in this region,” he adds.

In the UAE PC market, HP also has top spot across all form factors with a 39.5% market share. In the desktop domain, it records a 42.7% market share. Furthermore, in Egypt the vendor boasts a 48.7% share of in PC server market, and 31.2% in the notebook sector.
