Fairmont Dubai promotes video conferencing

The Fairmont, Dubai, has made a substantial investment in video conferencing. The hotel's Exchange Business Centre has three executive boardrooms kitted out with video conferencing kit.

The Fairmont, Dubai, has made a substantial investment in video conferencing. The hotel has dedicated its second floor business centre, ‘The Exchange’ to the service. The Exchange business centre comes fully equipped with three executive boardrooms; one with smart wall technology and the other with two electronic whiteboards containing VCR capabilities and complete audio systems.

As a result of regional tensions and a tough business environment, video conferencing is becoming an increasingly vital tool to the Middle East business community. Video conferencing allows companies to co-ordinate face-to-face meetings via satellite with personnel from almost any location on the globe. The Fairmont is confident that ‘The Exchange’ will deliver a rapid return on investment.

"We've seen a significant increase in recent requests for Video Conferencing at The Fairmont Dubai," reports Heather Beatty, assistant director of conference services & catering.

"This advanced method of meeting allows more flexibility in coordinating the schedules of busy delegates who could spare an hour for a video meeting but not two or three days of travel time. With video you can see your associates or clients face-to-face and read their body language as well as hearing their tone of voice," she adds.

In addition, The Fairmont is also rolling out wireless networking technology, allowing access the internet, use laptops or hand held computers in various locations around the hotels without using inconvenient wires or cables.
