E-TQM College, the world's first electronic total quality management school, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Lloyds TSB UK to advance and improve excellence in education throughout the Arab world. The Dubai-based college, formed under the patronage of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, crown prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister, will also host a conference to introduce the Lloyds TSB Quality in Education Programme to the Middle East region.

The Excellence in Education Conference will enable educational institutions to evaluate the quality standards of their teaching curricula, administration and methodologies according to the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) model which has effectively raised the standards of education across Europe.

“Through this ground-breaking conference e-TQM is bringing the world's best educational practices to Arab educators,” stated e-TQM director Dr. Mansour Al Awar. “The Excellence in Education Conference will provide local and regional educators with a unique opportunity to network with leading academics and learning institutions from around the world. This event will be an inspiring platform to empower educators to transform the educational environment in our region in this era of globalisation.”

E-TQM College, a virtual knowledge-based environment was established in 2002 to provide opportunities through open access, to all those individuals aspiring to specialise in quality management and those associated with its implementation and management.

According to Dr. Al Awar, the conference is the first step in a long-term commitment towards transforming the educational environment across the Arab world: “With the vision, support and leadership of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, our aim is to work towards re-engineering education in the Arab world to provide our youth with the brightest future.”
