Al Rostamani Group is rolling out Microsoft’s Enterprise Project Management (EPM) software and SharePoint Portal Server 2001 to streamline its operations across its 19 branches in the UAE.

When implemented, the EPM software tools will support project portfolio analysis, enterprise wide resource optimisation and project management tools.

Combined with SharePoint, the workplace portal will enable real-time access to centralised information, issue tracking and automated communications.

“Empowerment of our employees through tools such as this portal is crucial to increase efficiency and productivity,” says Sultan Al Shamsi, general manager, IT, Al Rostamani Group.

“This deployment will enable our employees to utilize a central point of access to all of the group’s key business information and applications, as well as share information across file servers, databases, websites and Exchange public folders,” he adds.

The EPM and SharePoint software stack will enable employees to browse data by categories, search for data, subscribe to dynamic information, check documents and publish documents. Users will also be able to customise their homepage to suit their needs.

EPM is a collection of software tools including Microsoft Project Professional 2002 combined with Microsoft Project Server 2002 and Microsoft Project Server Client Access Licenses (CALs).

Al Rostamani Group is using software tools provided by Microsoft and other third party vendors to manage its business processes such as document management, offline connectivity and remote access.

“The presence of the e-business tools represents one of the main reasons why we selected Microsoft for this particular project,” comments Lotfy Sabri, Project Manager, Al Rostamani Group.

“Microsoft is a world leader in creating technology that is scalable, interoperable, and solid. The company has the vision to always allow room for end users such as myself to reach out to third party developers to develop our products,” he adds.
