EMC has announced the appointment of Rainer Erlat as senior VP for Europe, Middle East & Africa. Erlat was previously vice president & general manager of sales for the EMEA Enterprise Systems Group at HP.

At EMC, Erlat will be looking to grow the storage vendor’s revenue in emerging markets. Currently, the EMEA region represents approximately 25% of EMC’s total worldwide revenue.

“The Middle East market offers significant growth opportunities for EMC,” says Mohammed Amin, regional general manager, EMC Middle East.

“While markets in Europe are witnessing stagnation, companies in the Middle East are continuing to invest in their infrastructure, so we’re witnessing year-on-year growth. Whether in Egypt or Saudi Arabia, organisations of all sizes need simpler, more cost-effective ways to manage their growing volumes of information. EMC and our partners are delivering the most advanced automated networked storage solutions available to meet these needs. We are extremely fortunate to welcome an executive with Rainer’s background and experience, who really understands this region and the needs of its customers,” he adds.
