Corecess pushes IP-based access solutions

Corecess has set itself an 18-month timeline in which to become the leading IP-based access solutions vendor in the Middle East. As such, the vendor is targeting regional telcos and service providers.

Corecess has set itself an 18-month timeline in which to become the leading IP-based access solutions vendor in the Middle East. As such, the vendor is keen to draw attention and awareness towards it products, which range from DSL solutions, to customer premise equipment (CPE) and, more recently, Metropolitan Ethernet offerings.

“We are into the access part of the network and provide anything from DSL central office equipment all the way to CPE — whether it is copper or fibre-based,” says Louay Abdullah Osman, regional sales manager, Corecess, Middle East.

“We are into technologies like fibre-to-the-home, fibre-to-the-kerb and, recently, we launched a new triple play service, which allows service providers or certain enterprise sectors to provide voice, video and data over their existing copper infrastructure,” he continues.

Corecess claims it is providing a unique and as yet unmatched range of IP-based access solutions, which will enable it to steal an early lead in the regional market. Furthermore, Osman suggests that its IP-based products offer the simplicity and flexibility for managing voice, video and data in one network that ATM other technologies cannot.

“We have yet to see a company that can really compete in terms of providing an access solution — and typically a DSL general access solution that is IP-based. Other vendors are into the complexity of ATM and other systems and we don’t see the competition in terms of IP-based deployment on DSL. We have set ourselves a year to 18 months and then we will have a stronghold here in the Middle East,” he claims.

Although the vendor has been operating in the Middle East for just over a year, its initial success has come in more deregulated markets such as Iran, Turkey and North Africa. Consequently, the vendor shifted its focus to the enterprise market and targeted the hospitality and residential markets. As a result, Corecess has won projects in Saudi Arabia and the UAE where property developers are starting to roll out video, voice and data services to tenants.

“In the Middle East we have established a few contacts and we have started a few projects mainly in Iran and Saudi. We started mainly with the enterprise sector, and we also targeted residential compounds with our solution to provide voice, video and even internet access over the existing copper infrastructure in compounds, villas or apartment buildings,” explains Osman

Additionally, with ATM, SONET and Frame Relay networks still in existence throughout the region Corecess has developed solutions to integrate IP with other technologies and enable the company to target these customers at an earlier stage.

“We have special interfaces that we are building into our equipment to integrate with the ATM and SONET infrastructure here. Eventually we see the roadmap for the technology to be IP and organisations can integrate into ATM and then move forward into IP,” says Osman.
