Symbol Technologies is expanding its range of enterprise mobility solutions with the introduction of its Spectrum24 Mobility Server and the CB 2000 Client Bridge products.

The Spectrum24 server is a Kerberos Key Distribution Centre (KDC) that enhances client authentication and dynamic encryption and is suited for deployment within wireless local area networks (WLANs) and specific device locations.

Symbol also stresses the benefits to the retail industry of its CB 2000 Client Bridge. According to the vendor, the bridge can connect Ethernet-enabled devices, such as POS systems, printers, weight scales and other non-PC and PCI slot devices into a wireless network to offer connectivity speeds of up to 11 M/bits/s.

“As retailers in the Middle East start to look at providing their staff with wireless devices in their store environments, the ability to quickly — but securely — add networked devices that improve the customer experience and overall store operations become important,” says Mike Allen, director for channels, Symbol Technologies, Europe, Middle East & Africa.

“These new products enable retailers to enjoy more mobility with greater security at a lower cost because they support emerging systems as well as legacy systems that can now be wirelessly connected to the network,” he adds.
