Emirates Internet and Multimedia launches promotion to get more of the UAE online

Emirates Internet and Multimedia (EIM), the ISP arm of Etisalat, is to waive registration fees for new users of its dial-up service as a Dubai Shopping Festival promotion

Emirates Internet and Multimedia (EIM) has announced a new promotion to attract new Internet users during the Dubai Shopping Festival. New subscribers to EIM’s dial-up service who sign on from 25th January until 26th February will not be charged the usual Dhs100 ($27) registration fee. The UAE already has the highest Internet penetration in the region, but the ISP is looking to increase subscriber numbers further.

“This year’s Shopping Festival is set to be one of the biggest to date, and we aim to contribute to that success through our offer,” commented Maroua Naim, general manager, EIM. “This is the third promotion of its kind since we permanently reduced registration charges from Dhs200 down to Dhs100 in March 2002.”

EIM’s dial-up service already has 290,000 subscribers, and is the most popular Internet subscription package in the UAE. Connection is through a V.90 modem, with data speeds of 56kbps.
