Virtual DWTC racks up 8m hits

Almost 8 million hits in 8 months, plus 2 million impressions, puts the World Trade Centre’s website at the heart of Dubai’s e-government drive.

Dubai World Trade Centre has claimed almost 8 million hits and 2 million impressions (page views) to its website over the last eight months. Average hits per day exceed 30,000, with international visits counting for a total of 50%.

These figures place DWTC at the forefront of Dubai’s drive towards e-government, and arguably demonstrate its growing importance as a leading exhibition centre in the Middle East. Since its inception in 1998, the number of website visitors has risen from more than 1 million in the first year to more than 8 million in 2002, with the Arabic version attracting even more visitors.

Having won the award for best government website two years ago, presented by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Radhid, DWTC has since created individual websites for each exhibition, adding up to a total of 9 websites run by the Trade Centre, as well as the Airport Expo website.

“More features and further improvements are currently being planned for implementation in the near future,” said Mubarak Ahmed Bin Fahad, Director General of the Dubai World Trade Centre, adding that he anticipates an even better response to the website this year.
