Four Kuwaiti companies using pirate software have been raided in coordinated action by the Ministry of Information.

The Ministry announced that it had successfully raided four companies in the finance and industry sectors. A total of 161 personal computers were found in the raids all loaded with unlicensed software. The ministry’s raids were carried out simultaneously by four teams of inspectors.

The raids are a further sign of Kuwait’s clampdown on pirate software, following calls by the Ministry of Information for everyone in the country to respect intellectual property laws. All companies using unlicensed software have also been requested to legalise their applications.

Local ISVs in Kuwai, as well as legal resellers, have applauded the government’s actions in this regard.
