Argus Systems Group has signed a partnership agreement with ComGuard in the Middle East. ComGuard, which is a regional specialist in security systems, will concentrate on selling Argus' Pitbull Application Security suite. Several Saudi Arabian banks have already expressed an interest in the Argus solution.

“With the growth in internet usage, connectivity and data sharing, the need to ensure greater levels of security of existing operating systems is increasingly moving up on the agenda of enterprise CEOs and CIOs in the Kingdom’s banking sector,” said Daniel Nufer, marketing director of ComGuard. “With the ComGuard/Argus offering, we will be providing these institutions with the most comprehensive approach to enterprise security and a failsafe solution against internal and external attacks. This technology is already at work in a number of global financial institutions including Credit Suisse, Union Bank of Switzerland, Chase Manhattan Bank and ABN AMRO Bank.”

PitBull is a suite of application security solutions designed to stop attacks from both outsiders and people inside an organisation. Earlier this year, the software was the focus of eWeek magazine's Open Hack III contest where it withstood more than 5.4 million hack attempts without a single penetration.

“Everyday we read about new viruses that, when successfully exploited, can give attackers access to mission critical servers and a launch pad to attack the most critical data of the enterprise. Yet, it is startling how many enterprises operate under the mis-conception that the basic protection mechanisms provided in mainstream operating systems is adequate,” explained Nufer.

In Saudi Arabia, ComGuard will deliver and support the Argus PitBull solution through its team of consultants based in the company’s Riyadh office and through its local partner, the Communications Division of House of Invention Int'l (HOI) - a division of Bugshan Group.
