Logica has won a multi-million dollar deal to upgrade MTC Kuwait’s short messaging service (SMS) infrastructure. The overhauled messaging system will enable the GSM operator to deliver news, games and other forms of entertainment.

MTC’s upgraded SMS system will also be able to support corporate marketing campaigns.

“The long-term vision of mobile operators in the Middle East, and their interest in rolling out new and innovative services, makes the region an increasingly important global market for Logica,” says Derek Kemp, chief executive officer, Logica in the Middle East.

“We have a proven track record in the market for delivering critical messaging solutions that deliver significant return on investment for operators. Our leadership is illustrated once again with this key win,” he adds.

Logica’s local partner Al Khaldiya will also provide the hardware platform to host the SMS infrastructure.
