Maids go online, a recruitment portal for hiring maids and unskilled domestic workers, has been launched in Dubai to cater to the needs of people looking for trained staff to do domestic chores.

By  Vijaya George Published  November 21, 2002, the Gulf's first recruitment portal for hiring maids and unskilled domestic workers, has been launched in Dubai by Gulf International Employment Services (GIES).The site aims to cater to the needs of people looking for reliable and trained staff to do domestic chores, bringing together employers, jobseekers and recruiting agencies on a common online platform for easy interaction.The new portal hosts the CVs of all categories of domestic help, including housemaids, housekeepers, baby sitters, pet attendants, nannies, cooks, gardeners, drivers and watchmen. Potential employers can hire them by filling an online application form while, at the same time, manpower supply agencies can post CVs of their candidates on the portal.

" provides a professional platform for online recruitment of housemaids and domestic helpers through an integrated interface between job-seekers, employers and labour supply agencies,” commented Yousef Al Ghareeb, managing director of GIES. “It is a one-stop platform that takes care of all within the legal framework. Potential employers are offered fully trained domestic helpers, minus the anxieties and headaches connecting with acquiring a house maid, while jobseekers seek jobs online."

The portal allows employers to search for housemaids through an easy search engine, after providing details about the nature of preferences such as nationality and religion. The portal will then provide a list of candidates that suit the employer's requirements. offers the registration facility to job seekers as well as manpower supply agencies. Job seekers can post their CVs by filling in a simple online form, providing their email ID and attaching a photograph. Once a CV is posted, the task of matching it with suitable openings begins with the help of an exhaustive database of job postings and resumes. If a prospective employer has viewed the CV, the applicant is notified by e-mail. The portal also helps the applicant maintain a record of employers who have considered the resume and informs him or her of any new suitable vacancies.

The portal has a separate registration for recruitment agencies and this form too can be submitted online. The forms are first scrutinised by, prior to being posted on the portal.
“We have already signed up with labour recruitment agencies and are negotiating with some others to join the platform. Both employers and jobseekers stand to benefit form our services, because we offer a quick response and a single interface for all parties concerned," stated Al Ghareeb.
