Dubai Municipality has become the initial organisation to sign up for Etisalat’s E-Shop B2B solution. The UAE’s monopoly service provider has developed a customised online account administration, service management and product delivery application for the municipality.

“Dubai Municipality has made big strides in the field of e-governance as per the directives of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence to implement e-government systems in the local departments,” comments Hussein Lootah, assistant director general for environment & public health affairs and head of e-government committee at Dubai Municipality.

“Launching this initiative is a positive step by Etisalat which will result in more communication between the two service and social organisations in the country and this is one of the requirements of e-governance,” adds Lootah.

The Etisalat4me B2B solution allows Dubai Municipality to carry out a variety of transactions online including subscription to services, bill inquiry and payment, WASEL recharge and renewal, fault reporting and tracking and day-to-day account management. The solution covers all Etisalat services, such as PABX and Key systems, pre- and post-paid mobiles, and all data services.

“The service will expand communication and cooperation between Dubai Municipality and Etisalat as the two service organisations are undertaking daily transactions with the public,” predicts Lootah.

“Etisalat’s selection of Dubai Municipality as the first customer for this service reflects the amount of efficiency it has achieved in the field of e-governance and its technical and administrative preparedness to be connected through the system,” he adds.

The E-Shops solution has been developed in conjunction with Comtrust to enhance the security of the service. The web site, its e-payment facilities and service requests have been designed with the utmost security in mind.

Digital certificates have also been issued by Comtrust to selected users within Dubai Municipality to verify their identity electronically and further enhance access security. High level encryption will be used to ensure the security of data transferred over the internet.
