Tejari has signed on its first official member from the hospitality industry. The Grand Hyatt Dubai, which is due to be launched early next year, has committed to migrating a majority of its procurement activities online through Tejari. The 674-room resort and conference facility will use Tejari to procure goods and services ranging from furniture and bedding to electronics and office supplies.

“The vision of Grand Hyatt Dubai is to ensure that as much of our purchasing function as possible takes place online,” stated Peter Fulton, general manager, Grand Hyatt Dubai. “As one of the largest hospitality developments in the region, we needed a similarly-sized marketplace to handle the scope of our procurement activities, and Tejari was the logical choice.”

The hotel plans to achieve three primary business objectives through Tejari, including increasing the buying efficiency of its operations through lowered transaction costs, reducing its inventories through ‘just-in-time’ delivery of goods, and optimising resource utilization throughout the property.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, CEO, Tejari stated that the hospitality industry was a key area of focus for Tejari. “We are delighted to welcome Grand Hyatt Dubai as a new trading partner on the marketplace. Luxury hotels and conference resorts such as Grand Hyatt Dubai represent major trading opportunities for Tejari members because these types of organisations have a vast array of procurement needs. At the same time, properties like the Grand Hyatt can manage a leaner, more agile administrative operation by rapidly buying what they need, when they need it, from a wider range of potential suppliers,” she commented.
