IT security concerns are the topping the agenda for local organisations. According to local security consultant, ComGuard, there is an ‘upsurge’ in security concerns among regional executives, as the realise the threat to the long term business strategy.

“Most executives agree that risk management is more about a company’s business strategy than a low level IT concern, and should be addressed at a senior management level rather than by IT administrators,” says Daniel Nufer, sales & marketing director for ComGuard.

“Progressive organisations in the region will deploy an enterprise risk management (ERM) solution that minimises the effects of risk on both capital and earnings, through the process of planning, managing, leading, and controlling the IT activities of an organisation,” adds Nufer.

Both public and private sector businesses have begun to deploy risk management policies and procedures to act as governing measures on the IT operations of a company.

ComGuard is reporting that local companies are investing increasing IT security related investments and realising that ERM is essential to ensuring business continuity.

“Success depends on striking a balance between enhancing profits and managing risk. Put simply — IT security ensures business continuity and sustained profitability,” comments Nufer.
