The UAE Offsets Group (UOG) is planning to streamline its operations as it moves towards a paperless office environment. The project, codenamed Al Bosala, will introduce enhanced record management, document management and collaboration, with the deployment of Livelink from OpenText.

“As an organisation with varied interests and activities spanning different areas of business, UOG was looking to streamline the functioning of its various departments and integrate them, in an effort to bring about higher levels of efficiency,” comments Dr. Ali Al Kaabi, learning and knowledge management manager, UOG.

“The upgrade of our system, that will be implemented by Emirates Computers (EC) matches the latest technology, [and will] result in [reduced] errors, improved quality of work and enhanced productivity,” he adds.

EC is also providing the hardware, software and integration services for the entire solution. Livelink is Microsoft-based knowledge management and online collaboration application. The solution also includes the installation Kofax’s Ascent Capture, a batch-oriented capture application and Captaris’s Rightfax, which manages all the faxing requirements of the company. The entire solution is hosted on Dell servers.

“One of the main reasons we chose Emirates Computers was its proven ability to customise a system and integrate it with our current hardware and software infrastructure,” says Sheikha Al Maskari, Al Bosala Project Manager, UOG.

UOG’s project team is currently working with EC consultants to enhance the internal workflow and train the user community. “UOG realised the need for having an automated business process and workflow system... We are to jointly create a system flexible enough to provide an enterprise wide solution supporting UOG’s needs for consulting, installation and integration [and] training," Sheikha Al Maskari adds.
