UAE digital cable TV provider E-Vision has announced the launch of eView, it’s own pay-per-view service. E-Vision promises that the service will “feature the latest blockbuster movies in digital, crystal clear cinema quality picture and sound.”

An advanced interactive television service, eView allows customers to order a movie or an event from a scheduled list for a small fee. According to E-Vision the movies available on eView will be from the latest Western and Hindi/Asian releases that are yet to appear on pay TV services. Arabic titles will be added in the near future.

“E-Vision has promised and it is time to deliver,” says Humaid Rashid Sahoo, chief executive officer, “The launch of e-View is an important addition to our services and a proof that we strive to offer them the best in home entertainment.”

For the first time in the region, the digital video broadcasting technology (DVB) will provide viewers the option of having the Arabic subtitling switched on and off on English and Hindi movies.

Viewers can watch trailers, promotions of the movies and the how-to-order procedures by going to channel 200. Subscribers can then go to channels 220 and 221 to check the schedule of the movies and the number of channels on which they are shown.

Customers can pay for eView service by purchasing tokens either on their credit card by calling the Customer Service Toll Free number: 800 5500 or paying cash at E-Vision offices.

As an introductory promotion, all E-Vision subscribers can watch ‘Crocodile Dundee in LA’ free of charge until November 12, 2002.
