Technopark, a 1.4 million sq. ft. technology park located in Kerala, the southern state of India is at Gitex for the first time and is highlighting the advantages to multinationals if they decide to set up shop next to the 55 companies already there.

Technopark, according to its chief executive, Rajiv Vasubeban can offer companies more bang for the buck.

Not only can Technopark provide the infrastructure to facilitate business in a flexible hassle free regulatory framework, but it also serves as an ideal centre from which companies can hire IT talent. The technology hub has 5,500 IT professional on campus. Ernst and Young the management consultancy recently set up shop at Technopark.
"This is our first time at Gitex and we see a resurgence of activity in the region which we would like to participate in," Vasubeban told the Gitex Times.

Vasubeban says there are two areas that technopark views as possible partnership areas; serving as a venue for companies that wish to set up offshore and meet the requirements of entities that wish outsource work.

"We can provide a viably, superior environment make technology businesses intrinsically competitive and successful and promote regional development," says Vasubeban. While he would not disclose how important the GCC market was to Indian companies, Vasubeban pointed a recent multi-million dollar deal struck between Indian based IBS Software Services and Mercator the IT arm of Emirates airlines.

"Our focus is on the GCC market as key to Indian companies, while at the same time we will be an IT gateway to India," said Vasubeban.
