EIM tempts internet users with reduced prices

Emirates Internet & Multimedia (EIM) has announced a plethora of deals and offers during this year’s Gitex. The UAE PTT has slashed subscription fees for both new dial-up and high speed Al Shamil internet subscribers in a promotion, which runs from October 15 to November 14 2002.

Emirates Internet & Multimedia (EIM) has announced a plethora of deals and offers during this year’s Gitex. The UAE PTT has slashed subscription fees for both new dial-up and high speed Al Shamil internet subscribers in a promotion, which runs from October 15 to November 14 2002. Additionally, the cost of the Al Shamil USB 4060 modem has been cut from Dhs 375 to just Dhs 275.

The prices cuts are designed to encourage the uptake of the internet in the UAE. “We expect a strong reposnse during the promotion from both new dial-up users and Al Shamil subscribers,” says Maroua Naim, general manager, EIM.

“More of our users are migrating to Al Shamil as higher bandwidth applications become available. The Al Shamil service, which is up to 10 times faster than dial-up is a major focus for EIM going forward and we have found that once users try Al Shamil. They see the inherent benefits and stay with the service,” Naim adds.

Aside from reducing internet subscription prices, EIM has also been busy demonstrating its redesigned portal, which offers a host of interesting sites and services for all manner of users.

EIM has also teamed up with E-Vision, the UAE’s digital cable TV provider to offer home users high speed internet and home entertainment via the cable network.
