SSS to computerise UAE Interior Ministry

The UAE Ministry of the Interior signed an agreement for Specialised Software Services (SSS) to computerise its document management archiving system at Gitex.

The UAE Ministry of the Interior signed an agreement for Specialised Software Services (SSS) to computerise its document management archiving system at Gitex.

The contract, believed to be worth several million dollars will provide a customised date storage centre, to will link seven of the ministry’s 36 departments in phase one of the project, which calls for customisation, implementation and training for the Correspondence section of the ministry.

As main contractor, SSS will use HP hardware and Asset Technology software in the scanning and archiving of over 300,000 documents. It will provide a totally automated system of document archives within the department.

Work is due to start before the end of the month with delivery within three months. Amr Mostafa, general manager of SSS said: “The main challenge of this type of contract is always the timescale but it gives a real indication that the e-government initiative is gathering momentum on the region.”
