ACCPAC went for a double header at yesterday’s Gitex, with the announcement of a big customer win at Human Appeal International and confirmation that the company’s customer relationship management (CRM) products are to be Arabised.

Human Appeal International is a non-profit organisation based in Ajman. ACCPAC and its partner, Lebanese Information Technology Enterprise (LITE), have integrated ACCPAC’s Advantage Series 5.0 software with LITE’s e-Charity application to create a site that allows donors to give money online. The value of the deal is reported to be $500,000.

Salem Abdul Rahman Al Nouaimy, secretary general of HAI, says the implementation should save the charity considerable operational costs, leaving more money to go where it is most needed. “The savings generated from migrating operations to the Internet will all be allocated to more relief programmes,” says Al Nouaimy.

ACCPAC’s Arabisation of its CRM applications will be carried out by Jordan’s CATS and will focus on sales force automation, marketing campaign automation and customer care applications. “The Arabisation of our CRM applications is based on customer interest and the demands that we’re getting from the market,” says Marc Van der Ven, ACCPAC’s regional director.

Despite ACCPAC’s decision to Arabise its products, Van der Ven admits that CRM continues to get bad press. “Expectations are not correct,” he says. “There’s not enough focus on implementation and you need a management that focuses on putting the customer first.”

The customer win is the latest in a long line for ACCPAC and Van der Ven claims business is booming at a time when many in the industry are gloomy.
